Beside your discussion: Society is Brainwashed!
Thats truth for any society. Especially for western zivilisations. If you don't live on your own, you alwasy live under a certain type of "Group Spirit" which draws your world. May the Individual thinking be what it is, you always make your way under certain restrictions given by your society. In the western (or even most) civilisations It's the media which shows you the way to think, and behave. Its the system that controls your mind, your life. They frighten you in order to keep the control. They statisfy you, in order to steer your life. Breakin throgh it may not be possible once you you are caught in it. Freedom is imagination. You are only free in your dreams, but dreams are not valuable to those who got the control. If you wanna live free, you got to break with the standards. Find yourself a community you are able to define your rules, where you can live your idea of peace, wealth and freedom. After all no one wants to live alone, so society becomes necessary to us.
Design it yourself.
In the end you were born alone, and belive - you die alone.
Peace.

Don't take it for granted. When I shut my mouth once, then it doesn’t mean that I keep silent. I would attack people if I just give my comment without further explanation. We lacked of time, the workshop wasn't in my very hands. I am responsible for my attendants. I don't want to attack my attendants. I attack the problem. My comments and suggestions will implement in Indigo's coming course. There is much more going on than you think.

You misunderstand me. Remember, I can escape from Viet Nam easily but the problems are still existing for others. I can make a quick end for my own struggle. I probably have to face less difficulties than the average Vietnamese. Most cultural problems don't affect me actively. But the people I am dealing with are affected by it.

You call some sentences ridiculous. I will not argue with you about my attendants comments or other peoples comments. I can't change your mind set in that subject. But I can appeal in intercultural exchange. I am writing in course of it. People should learn about stereotypes and prejudices. We shouldn't acclaim that stereotypes and prejudices are bad. They help us in life. But we should be aware of their mistakenness. As well, we have to learn about our own culture. We shouldn't accept our bad habits. We should alter instead of ignoring them day by day.

Dear Michael,
Firstly, I want to express my agreement with you in that “If no one talks about it, then it will never be solved”. But is this a good way to talk about it? Keep silent in the debate, and then post it on your blog??? How could the participants in the debate that day be aware of it??? Is it called raising awareness???
You were totally wrong when you thought that your life would have been much easier if you hadn't talked about difficulties. Even you talked or not, the difficulties always exist. I’m not surprised when foreigners have difficulties, but you stunned me by the way you deal with them. This topic is sensitive. Many cultural differences came up. It needs much time . It is impossible to talk about it in a rush. Rite. BUT IS IT WISE TO TALK HERE-ON YOUR BLOG??? Is it wise because the participants on the debate that day may never know your disapproval ??? You stun me again. I did think that people in Western prefer go straight into the problem.
Secondly, I did assure that somebody is thinking in this or that way because I'm a Vietnamese. I know the way Vietnamese people think. That doesn't mean I know everything other Vietnamese people thinks but it's enough to know that what you said is ridiculous. The Vietnamese usually say "even fierce tigers have sense of family". Why could they think that the Western do not???
Move to your questions for me. What is the western world actually? And what is the western world to me? Is there a difference between western countries? Is there a difference between Eastern countries? Well, Western world to me is somewhat similar to Eastern world in that both have their own features. The features, which are called Western culture or Eastern culture, are typical characters or average qualities. They don’t say that all the Western do in exactly the same way or there is nothing differences between Easterners.
Finally, you don’t talk about all Vietnamese??? Right! You implied that.
Actually I wish that you could deal with difficulties and have happy, pleasant days in Vietnam. But if It is too hard for you, I hope you can escape from this burden soon.
Anyway,thank for coming to Vietnam, staying in Vietnam.
Take cares,

@Peacelover

Let me answer this question with a quote of a previous post.
"Sometimes we should avoid, occasionally provoke and sometimes we need to resolve problems"

I wasn't in charge of this workshop. This topic is sensitive and I knew that the workshop would be a tough one. Many cultural differences came up. It is impossible to talk about it in a rush. It needs much time to raise awareness. That's why I didn't talk all through the workshop. But I set up an appointment with the key members right after the workshop. I made them familiar with my thinking. They appreciated my feedback.

It was different in my lessons. I taught each class twice a week. I met them often and made friends. It is so much easier to talk in an environment of a smaller amount of people and more time.

Dear namcao,

thanks for your comment. I've never talked about all Vietnamese. When I point out something, then I talk about the majority or groups. I work with Vietnamese and discuss about intercultural topics with them. I write down what I have to face to, nothing else. This is exactly what people tell me.

What I report is my personal view, not a common sense. Please do not assure that nobody is thinking in this or that way. Talk about your opinion instead. What is the western world actually? And what is the western world to you? Is there a difference between western countries? Is there a difference between Eastern countries?

One's view is always partly. I can't speak for 85 million Vietnamese. I spend much time in South, also have friends in Central Vietnam. My living place is Ha Noi...I am not Vietnamese, I am a foreigner who has got much sympathy for this country. I don't have a personal benefit from my work. I don't get any money. My life would be much easier when I wouldn't talk about difficulties. But keep one thing in mind. If no one is talking about it, then no one will solve it. We will always have to face the same problems then. Let's get rid of them. A better future for you, me and everyone who takes part in.

Best wishes
Michael

@nobitavn

Please don't get personal in your comments. Let's treat each other with respect and understanding.

My question rather busy was if you love all aspects of your country. You decided not to answer and to quest me instead. This blog isn't about Germany. But believe me, I love and hate facets of my country. Love has got a reason but we mostly don't know how to articulate it. But I am aware of love. I know that love is a great gift. I am blessed with much love by close friends and respectful people. It is essential to mention positive and negative points of a subject to live in a healthy relationship. Please read my post about peacemaking. "What is my inner drive?"
